When the 2017 Chevy Silverado HD arrivers here at Phillips Chevrolet, it will be packing more power than ever before in its optional diesel engine. The next-generation L5P 6.6L Duramax V-8 engine will provide 445 HP at 2,800 RPM and 910 lb-ft of torque at 1,600 RPM, a significant increase over the current generation’s 397 HP at 3,000 RPM and 765 lb-ft of torque at 1,600 RPM. That also beats out the 440 HP at 2,800 RPM offered by the new Power Stroke diesel in 2017 Ford F-Series trucks. Earlier this summer, Chevrolet revealed the new patented air intake system for the Duramax diesel, marked by a dramatic hood scoop which drives cool, dry air into the engine for sustained performance during difficult driving conditions. More will be revealed this weekend at the State Fair of Texas where the new Duramax while make its official public debut. Phillips Chevrolet of Frankfort and Lansing has Illinois’ Largest Chevy Inventory, including a great selection of Silverados ready to tow whatever you can throw behind them.
